Manipulative: Letter Matching Fridge Game

This game helps children learn to position letters in the right direction before they can write the letters. The chart helps them catch themselves when putting a letter upside down or backwards. It has great colors and a perfect font and text size to match up with these foam magnet letters. I used only the capital letters and put the lowercase letters in a tackle box to make a Montessori Moveable Alphabet. You get two game sets with one purchase of foam magnets.

What you need:
  • Foam Magnets: I got them from here.
  • Cardstock
  • Transparent tape
What you do:
  1. Go to http://www.mrprintables.com/printable-alphabet-cards.html to print alphabet cards. They also have lowercase so you can do uppercase and lowercase games with your foam letters.
  2. Print out charts and tape to fridge.
  3. Put the letters on the side of the fridge that has the water dispenser so that the paper doesn't get wet. The paper goes on the side of fridge with no water dispenser.
  4. Have children match up the letters.

I rotate fridge toys. To rotate this game, pull the sheet off of the fridge, fold the tape under and store it and the letters in a gallon size freezer bag on a shelf. To play it again just put new tape on.
