1. Buy cheap paint. They will probably mix all the colors anyways.
2. Have materials at table before you begin: paper towels, water, paint, brush, paper.
3. Try not to give input and see what they create on their own.
4. Make sure the outfit they wear isn't a favorite, or use an apron.
5. Do not leave child unattended, this is why #2 is so important.
